Hi! Fundraising is only part of what I do.  Over the years, I’ve helped nonprofits and education institutions grow their program offerings, engage with their board, develop partnerships and yes – raise over $32 million dollars.  In most cases, clients only have to give a general direction and I’ll handle the rest.  I use a results-oriented approach to maximize success for a variety of clients (AKA friends!) in an ever-changing funding and legislative environment.

TEXANS With 'Some College But No Degree'

The PEN IS THE POWER @ a Community College

Over 3.2 million Texans have earned some college credit, but never a degree.  What a waste - for Texas and for the (now) adult students who have expended money and time with no result.  A college degree can be an important gateway to employment, a career, and a better standard of living.  And in Texas, which is growing by a rate of 1,200 people per day, it is critical to narrow educational inequality gaps.  Texas' state agency for higher education is developing a statewide, cross-sector solution to provide access and degree attainment to these Texans.  I was honored to be on the ground floor of Grad TX - a program designed to provide adults with a second chance at earning one of the most powerful tools for social mobility - a postsecondary credential.

Located south of downtown Dallas, Mountain View College serves around 10,000 students each semester. These students are primarily first-generation college students (55% Hispanic) who often need additional academic supports.  Faculty recognized years ago that writing is key to student success as it involves both comprehension and application of knowledge. Data showed, however, that many students lacked the necessary writing skills to become successful students during their studies and (equally important) communicators after graduation.  The 'Pen Is The Power' initiative includes a unique process of instituting writing across various disciplines, coupled with a fun student writing lab called the Ink Spot.  The result... student writers and communicators! And graduates of course!

Thoughts:  Let's talk about transformative gifts - the holy grail of philanthropy.  If you won the lottery tomorrow, what gift would you make that could change the trajectory of an organization to make an exponential impact?
